What is Harley-DavidsonSM Dealer Exchange?
An online tool to help dealers increase their sales and profits. H-DSM Dealer Exchange lets dealers buy and sell pre-owned Harley-Davidson® and non-Harley-Davidson® motorcycles within the Harley-Davidson® dealer network.
What is National Powersports Auction (NPA)?
NPA is a nationwide company that has been serving the powersport industry since 1990. They hold monthly auctions that feature all year, make, and model motorcycles, ATVs, personal watercraft, boats, campers, snowmobiles, RVs, and trailers. NPA represents all major powersport lenders by selling their repossessed vehicles. These sales ensure that lenders receive a reasonable wholesale return on their repossessions. NPA also provides a dealer consignment program like no other auction facility in the world. NPA offers four auction facilities, located in San Diego, Dallas, Cincinnati and Atlanta, to serve the powersport dealers.
Are there certain criteria that Harley-Davidson® dealers have to meet in order to use Harley-DavidsonSM Dealer Exchange?
No, Harley-DavidsonSM Dealer Exchange is open to all Harley-DavidsonTM and Buell® dealers.
How can dealers obtain user names and passwords?
If a dealer is not registered, they should visit www.hd-dealerexchange.com and click on “Register”. Once National Powersport Auctions (NPA) receives the registration request, a user name and password will be e-mailed to the dealer.
What if a dealer forgets their user name and password?

What are the costs for using Harley-DavidsonSM Dealer Exchange?
There are no membership fees. The fees for both sellers and buyers are as follows:

How are dealers billed?
NPA will invoice dealers the day the sale closes.
Can only Harley-Davidson® motorcycles be bought and sold on Harley-DavidsonSM Dealer Exchange?
No, dealers can buy and sell any pre-owned Harley-Davidson® motorcycles and non-Harley-Davidson® motorcycles. Only non-Harley-Davidson® motorcycles can be sold to dealers outside the Harley-Davidson® network. Outside dealers cannot purchase Harley-Davidson® motorcycles through Harley-DavidsonSM Dealer Exchange.
Can dealers include the fees from Harley-DavidsonSM Dealer Exchange onto their used line?
Yes, as long as the unit and fees do not exceed 100% NADA average retail or purchase price (whichever is lower). If they exceed those parameters, HDFS Wholesale will review it on a case-by-case basis.
What if the purchase price is greater than the NADA average retail?
HDFS Wholesale will review each case on a deal-by-deal basis, but historically, 100% NADA average retail has been a sufficient amount of credit.
What is the process for using your used motorcycle line of credit to purchase a unit through Harley-DavidsonSM Dealer Exchange?
As with other auction collateral, dealers need to fill out a payment and direction form along with a copy of the used title to HDFS Wholesale in Plano, Texas.
Are any tools available to help dealers buy and sell motorcycles?
Yes, NPA has developed a Valuation Guide, a proprietary tool that shows actual auction results for most makes and models. This will aid dealers in setting their trade-in values with more confidence. HDFS has also developed a User Guide that shows step-by-step how to buy and sell motorcycles and use the Valuation Guide. The User Guide is posted on h-dnet and Harley-DavidsonSM Dealer Exchange.
How can dealers access the Valuation Guide?
The Valuation Guide is accessible within the Harley-DavidsonSM Dealer Exchange website at www.hd-dealerexchange.com by clicking on “Tools” in the left navigation bar.
How long do the auctions last?
Dealers that are posting motorcycles to sell can select the auction length.
Does Harley-DavidsonSM Dealer Exchange have dynamic bidding? What is dynamic bidding?
Yes, Harley-DavidsonSM Dealer Exchange does have dynamic bidding, which allows an auction to extend past the original auction end time if there are bids coming in for a motorcycle. The auction will not end if bidding is occurring.
How can a dealer manage the motorcycles they’re buying and selling?
Harley-DavidsonSM Dealer Exchange features an account management page that can be accessed by clicking on “My Account” in the top navigation bar. Dealers can manage their entire account from this page, including motorcycles currently listed to be sold.
Is there any feature that expedites the process for posting a motorcycle for sale?
Yes, if a dealer enters the VIN, the motorcycle information is automatically pulled up. A “VIN Year/Make/Model/Category Lookup” page appears. If the information listed is correct, the dealer can click on “Accept this Information”. If the information is incorrect, the dealer can click on “Decline and Return to Vehicle Details” to revise the information.
What is the shipping process for motorcycles purchased on Harley-DavidsonSM Dealer Exchange?
HDFS has arranged with Eagle Global Logistics to transport motorcycles purchased on Harley-DavidsonSM Dealer Exchange. In addition, NPA has a network of independent carriers to safely load and transport motorcycles all around the country. The charts on the Transportation Page provide approximate shipping costs all across the country for individual motorcycles. Dealers can contact NPA at (858) 413-1126 for more detailed information about shipping, including volume discounts or any special needs dealers may have. Dealers are not required to use Eagle Global Logistics and may choose other carriers to transport motorcycles bought on Harley-DavidsonSM Dealer Exchange. |
